ARASHI COLLECTIVE
We are a movement collective based in Vienna, Austria
run by 5 teachers who love to move, dance and share - located in a studio in the 9th district with plenty of room for community and mutual inspiration
OUR VISION
We started this collective because each of us loves to move, to play, to challenge ourselves and to be creative in group settings.

Also, as movers and teachers, we love to share our knowledge, to learn from our students, from mistakes and to grow in the process of teaching.

In our classes we all aim to hold a space and facilitate a mind-set where sharing experiences within the group (inspirations, ambitions, self doubt, vulnerability) can provide a fertile soil to progress individually, to build trust and to receive support.
Each of us is coming from a different background, but we strongly share these principles. We also believe, that a routine of multifaceted physical exercises and expressing oneself through (art and) movement both can be highly beneficial for our mental and physical health and growth.

So in 2022, we decided to combine our individual classes into a collective.
But - since we also share an urge to responsibly (re)connect people and cultivate a sentiment for mindfulness and togetherness, especially in a time burdened by crises, uncertainties and seclusion - this collective rapidly began to grow into a lively community.

Now we are able to invite international movers and teachers, hold community events and provide space and facilitate exchange and collaborations - connecting even broader communities and movement styles and offering room for everybody interested to explore their own individual path in this scene.

We are aware that with this opportunity comes responsibility - the responsibility to help shape vienna's movement scene in a way that reflects our values: as a statement of unity and collaboration.

And even if this turned out to be a whole lot of work, we still really love it.
Because everyone that joins brings something new and inspiring to this space we created. And it is so so so much fun!

We all came from different backgrounds - dance, tricking, acrobatics, kung-fu, yoga, circus arts, skating and many more things in between. But what connects us are our views on teaching, creating community and looking out for each other.
That's why we decided to join forces and create something together.

Our roles within the collective are fluid. We all have our talents and expertise to bring to the table but in the end we don't follow strict job descriptions - this is not a job, it's what we love.

First and foremost, we are movers, friends, teachers, people :)
